A CONCRETE mixer employee has been fined £300 by Canterbury magistrates for driving a motor vehicle without correct insurance.
James Thomas, 20, of Gainsborough Drive, Herne Bay, was found to be driving his employer’s white Peugeot van without business insurance on June 6.
“I didn’t know I couldn’t drive the van outside of work,’ Thomas told magistrates.
“I was under the impression I was still insured to borrow the van outside of my working hours. I was using it to help me move house.”

Alongside the fine, he was issued with six penalty points on his license.
“You should have checked first,” said a magistrate.
