Locals given the chance to name two new streets

Sam Francis

The re-development at Kent County Cricket Club has begun and those living locally to the area have been given the chance to name two new streets that are being created.

The KCCC will host two new housing sites and supporters and locals will vote on the names for the roads.

Kent Cricket Press Officer, Jamie Reid, believes that the vote has been a good success so far "It's going very, very well, we've had lots of entries, most of them have been cricket related which is good with 'Cover Drive' being the favorite so far".

Local residents to the area seem to be optimistic about the building work, one local resident sees it as a great financial addition "Obviously the (cricket) county is struggling for money at the moment, and the only way to make money is to have test cricket or twenty20 cricket so for Kent to get both of them it'll be a good money maker for them."

The housing site is scheduled to finish in May 2011and the club want the road names to be cricket related.
